The Government of Ireland has officially opened applications for the Ireland Fellows Program Africa 2027/2028, offering fully funded master's scholarships to early and mid-career professionals from 23 African countries, including Tanzania. Applications close on 26 July 2026, giving eligible candidates less than a week to submit their applications.
The Ireland Fellows Program is designed to develop future African leaders by providing access to world-class postgraduate education at Irish higher education institutions. The initiative also aims to strengthen institutional capacity in participating countries, support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and foster long-term partnerships between Ireland and Africa.
The scholarship is fully funded by the Government of Ireland and covers a wide range of expenses, allowing successful applicants to focus entirely on their studies. Benefits include full tuition fees, return economy flights, visa application fees, medical and travel insurance, accommodation support, a monthly living allowance, and settling-in and completion grants.

Eligible master's programs span several fields that are considered critical to sustainable development. To qualify, applicants must be resident nationals of one of the eligible African countries, hold a recognized bachelor's degree with strong academic performance, possess at least two or three years of relevant professional experience depending on their country, and demonstrate leadership potential. Candidates must also satisfy the English language requirements of their chosen universities before beginning their studies in Ireland.
For Tanzanian applicants, the program presents an opportunity to gain internationally recognized qualifications while developing skills that can contribute to national development upon returning home.
