The Pulitzer Center's Africa outreach program is now accepting proposals for the Africa Climate and Environment (ACE) Microgrants for African local movements.

Through innovative outreach projects that creatively integrate one or more stories supported by the Pulitzer Center, the ACE Microgrants aim to promote engagement in environmental and climate issues as they relate to transparency and governance.

They are looking for innovative projects that engage young professionals and communities on governments’ management of natural resources, harmful industrial and corporate practices, potential conflicts of interest and corruption, and the impact on biodiversity, Indigenous communities, human rights, and the climate.

Engagement projects should show their capacity to allow young professionals and communities to voice their opinions, share their experiences, and reflect on crucial economic, social, and environmental issues with the participation of representatives of media, public administration, businesses, civil society, and think tanks. Projects should draw inspiration from Pulitzer Center-supported stories on transparency and governance in environmental issues.

The local movements targeted are civil society organizations, associations, media, social enterprises, and think tanks. The types of outreach activities we accept are diverse, ranging from conferences to exhibitions and campaigns.

The ACE Microgrants accept applications in English and French.

Please read the guidelines for detailed information on eligibility and the selection process in the PDF file below.

The deadline for applications is April 30, 2026.
