CNN International Commercial (CNNIC) and Dangote Industries Limited have entered a multi-year global partnership aimed at highlighting Africa’s growing influence in the global economy, with Dangote sponsoring CNN’s new business program, Africa Inc.
The partnership brings together one of Africa’s largest industrial groups and a global media network in a campaign that will showcase African businesses, innovation and industrial development to audiences around the world.
Africa Inc. is a new half-hour program hosted by Nigerian journalist Adefemi Akinsanya. The show will examine how African companies are competing and expanding on the international stage across sectors including technology, hospitality, manufacturing and entertainment. CNN said the programme will present Africa not simply as an emerging market, but as an increasingly influential force shaping global commerce, innovation and consumer trends.
The program is scheduled to premiere on CNN International on August 29, 2026, with four additional episodes planned through 2026 and into 2027. Shorter Africa Inc. segments are also being distributed on CNN International, alongside digital and social media content.
For Dangote Industries, the partnership provides an international platform to communicate its role in Africa’s industrialization and promote its broader corporate ambitions. The company is positioning the collaboration as part of its global brand strategy, including its Vision 2030 blueprint.
The partnership extends beyond sponsorship of the television program. CNN’s in-house branded content studio, Create, will produce a separate content series titled Africa First. The series will explore Africa’s efforts towards energy independence and economic transformation through human-led films, data-driven articles and social media formats. Dangote Industries will feature as an example of African industrial development.
The campaign will be distributed across CNN International, CNN.com and CNN Arabic, as well as CNN Business channels on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. The Africa First content will also receive exposure through CNN’s US television and digital platforms, giving the campaign a reach beyond the African market.
The agreement also expands into CNN’s events business. Dangote Industries will sponsor three editions of CNN’s Global Perspectives events franchise during the next 12 months, adding an in-person component to a partnership otherwise built around television, digital media and branded storytelling.
CNN International Commercial Senior Vice President for Advertising Sales Cathy Ibal said the partnership would help bring stories of African innovation, resilience and leadership to an international audience. Dangote Industries Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer Anthony Chiejina, meanwhile, said the collaboration would provide a platform to showcase the company’s Vision 2030 ambitions and industrialization strategy.
The agreement builds on a relationship between CNN and Dangote that has previously included sponsorship and branded content around African business programming. In an earlier partnership, Dangote sponsored CNN’s Marketplace Africa segments and Africa Now, using CNN’s international platform to highlight business opportunities and the company’s pan-African presence.
The latest agreement comes at a time when Dangote is pursuing an increasingly continental expansion strategy. The group has investments across major sectors including cement, fertilizer, refining and petrochemicals, while its recent activities have increasingly focused on strengthening regional industrial and energy value chains.
In June, Dangote discussed potential multi-billion-dollar investments in Tanzania covering infrastructure, fertilizer production, power generation, ports and regional trade. The company also has a major cement operation in Mtwara, which has an annual production capacity of three million tones.
The company has also been exploring opportunities to expand refining capacity beyond Nigeria. In April, Dangote said it was prepared to support the development of a large East African refinery, with discussions involving Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania among other regional interests.
Against this backdrop, the CNN partnership offers more than conventional corporate advertising. It gives Dangote an opportunity to associate its brand with a broader narrative about African companies becoming globally competitive, while CNN gains a major corporate partner for programming focused on the continent’s economic transformation.
For Africa’s private sector, the launch of Africa Inc. could also provide greater international visibility for companies seeking investment, partnerships and customers beyond their domestic markets. By placing African businesses within a global business-media environment, the program reflects a shift in how the continent’s economic story is being presented: not solely through development challenges, but increasingly through companies building industries, creating jobs and competing internationally.
The CNN-Dangote partnership therefore represents a convergence of media, corporate branding and Africa’s industrialization agenda. As Africa Inc. begins broadcasting later this month, the program will provide a global platform for examining whether Africa’s rapidly expanding businesses can translate their domestic growth into lasting international influence.
